Tennis has always been a popular sport. It is a great game not just for its competition but for its universal brotherhood, relaxation, excitement, exercise, good sportsmanship, and pure enjoyment. There is no age limit in tennis .

It’s believe to have begun in Egypt and then eventually made its way to Europe. At first players used their hands or a small stick to hit the ball but after the game spread to the public, a leather glove was used for handling the ball which provided more control of the ball. Eventually a small wooden stick was added to the glove. Balls were originally made of wood but eventually they were made with softer material.

With these various changes to the game, it began to be accepted more and more by the general public and the game spread across Europe in the seventeenth century. Eventually balls were made softer and easier to handle with vulcanized rubber. Clay courts also became popular since grass on courts could die easily.

In the nineteenth century tennis clubs were built around Europe, and lawn tennis became popular. The Lawn Tennis Club formed and a tournament was held for the sport.  A committee created a system of rules for the game and then Wimbledon Championship soon formed as a result which is still considered to be the greatest tournament in the history of tennis.

In the 1930s tennis became even more popular as matches were broadcast around the world on radio. Then television allowed matches to be seen from your living room.
